HOW DO I BECOME A CASA VOLUNTEER?

CASA volunteers come from all areas of the community. A social service or legal background is not required. Volunteers are carefully screened for maturity, responsibility, objectivity, cultural sensitivity, commitment, and the ability to relate to families in stressful situations. Background checks are performed to ensure minimum legal standards are met.

All volunteers must undergo a 39-hour court approved training course and attend 3 hours of court observation. Prior to training, all prospective volunteers must complete and return an application form and provide three (3) References. References should include two (2) professional references and one (1) personal reference. Prospective volunteers will also interview with the director and undergo an extensive background check.
